Platform rules

#

Each platform takes different fields, video sizes and posting options. The table below comes from the same rules Deploy checks before a post goes out. Platforms update their rules now and then, so read GET /platforms in your app for the current limits rather than copying them.

How Deploy picks a video

#

Deploy keeps your original video and also makes a 1080p copy sized to fit the platforms with tighter file limits. YouTube always gets the original. Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, Threads and Bluesky get the 1080p copy whenever there is one.

X and TikTok get the original when it meets that platform's rules, and the 1080p copy when only the copy does. If neither fits, that destination fails with a sentence saying what to change in the video before you upload it again.

Check account options

#

Some choices depend on the connected account. Read GET /destinations/{id}/options before making a post, especially for TikTok. It returns the available choices and, for TikTok, the creator details and that account's video duration cap.

If your app or agent posts to TikTok through the API, show the person posting TikTok's privacy choices and creator details before it posts. Ask them to pick a privacy option. Deploy refuses a TikTok post without one, but your app must show those choices to the person.
